Our History

Mckenzie® was founded in 1971 in Manchester, England by John McKenzie. As an avid football fan and player, John saw the need for affordable, high-performance activewear. He began designing and manufacturing tracksuits, coats, and other gear to meet the needs of athletes and sports fans.
The brand quickly gained popularity throughout the UK for its distinctive style and practical designs. By the 1980s, Mckenzie® had become one of the leading sportswear brands in the country. We expanded into new product categories like t-shirts, shoes, and accessories while sponsoring top athletes and sports teams.
In the 1990s, Mckenzie® went international. We brought our signature British style to audiences around the world. Our expansion into Europe, North America, and beyond introduced the brand to new customers seeking quality sports fashion.
Today, Mckenzie® is a global sportswear and casual wear brand stocked by major retailers worldwide. But we remain committed to our roots and origins in Manchester. British style and sporting heritage are at the core of our products.

Our Design Heritage
Mckenzie® has pioneered some of the most iconic and influential looks in activewear. Our tracksuits, jackets, tees and shoes have become streetwear staples and cultural touchstones over the decades.
In the 1970s, we introduced the Mckenzie® Leisurewear Tracksuit to the world. This slim fit design with contrast side stripes and tipped cuffs embodied the brand’s bold streetwear aesthetic. It became wildly popular among football fans and soon expanded beyond the terrace stands.
The Mckenzie® Parka windbreaker also debuted during this era. Lightweight and packable, it was a trailblazing fusion of technical performance and irreverent style. Urban youth cultures like punks, casuals and hip hop heads adopted it as a street essential.
